3 Parks Neighbourhood Committee 12 Mar 2008
There is too much to repeat it all here. So I would suggest you read it on the council website.
Just noticed this...
Question submitted by L17 resident
Wildlife Site – Old Garden Festival Site
Could the local Wildlife Site designation at the old Garden Festival site be extended to include the areas of high wildlife value identified and highlighted during the recent public enquiry?
It says that areas of previously developed land on the Garden Festival site could be redesignated for housing. Does this mean that the embankment along Otterspool Prom, which is undeveloped coastline, will not be considered for inclusion in this redesignation?
It was agreed that this be referred to the appropriate officers for a response.
and this...
Question submitted by local resident
48a Bus Service
Is there any truth in the rumour that the 48a bus service is to be stopped by Arriva?
Response
Councillor Peter Allen stated that there is a rumour, but he has been told by Arriva that the service is under review and they have every intention of servicing that area. It will be a couple of months before the review is completed.

Question submitted by L17 Resident
In view of the Council's desire to promote cycling as a means of transport in the city, is this Committee aware that two commonly used cycle links in the Ward - the path through Priory Wood and the link between Colebrook Road and Dingle Vale, closed to motor traffic - are frequently covered in broken glass.
Could the Committee consider what steps can be taken to remedy this situation?
It was agreed that this be referred to Highways for a response.

Question by resident re St Michaels Station
Question
As I came out of St. Michael’s station this evening there were 49 vehicles parked on the three streets in the immediate vicinity (Southwood, Melly and at the top end of ST. Michael’s Roads). One white van was parked on the opposite side from the row of cars thus obstructing access.
i. What, if anything, is being done to discourage congestion in
these narrow residential streets and to protect pedestrians at
busy times near the station?
ii. There seems to be ample space for caged bike storage
(which seems to work at Steble Street sports centre) and
would encourage people from further afield to use this station
who might otherwise be put off from walking to it, or those
who walk but feel it necessary to get in their cars at the
slightest drop of rain. Has this been proposed/or rejected for
St. Michael’s station in the past? If so, are there restrictions
regarding the conservation area status?
Response
Agreed that the question be referred to the appropriate officers
and a response be submitted to the next meeting.
